JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Design Bid Estimator is a key functional support to the Sales and Design Team. You will work with the team to prepare design proposals and bid packages for our client partners. This role will be responsible for proper reviewing, coordination, and estimation of BOM, misc. consumables, all labor services, and ancillary costs that may be required to complete a project bid/proposal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Sales/Design Team on requirements for bid and design build proposals.
  • Scrub bid packages to confirm for accuracy between plans and SOW, inconsistencies and errors in consultant designs and bid documentation.
  • Prepare RFIs when needed.
  • Build BOM in proposal software, currently DTools.
  • Review RCP/Floor Plans, drawings, and documentation to determine needs that could affect product and/or labor services.
  • Translate customer requirements in Design Build Opportunities
  • Assist Sales with SOW deliverables
  • Identify technical and logistical impediments for projects.
  • Identify special project needs, lifts, tools, rigging support, extra resource time for meetings, additional safety requirements and any additional costs outside product and labor associated with product installation directly.
  • Works with Marketing Team to secure all bid required documents.
  • May be required to complete project site surveys.
  • Will participate in KOMs.
  • Work with Operations Manager/PMs on change orders and post sales design and deliverable needs.
  • Will work with CAD on final redlines.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of AV Design production in AV floor plans, riser plans, elevations, sectionals, system and control design, diagrams and writing specifications.
  • Working knowledge of AV Design technology solutions, i.e., digital signage, control systems, video streaming and conferencing.
  • Knowledge of Crestron
  • Fundamental knowledge of network infrastructures.
  • 3-5 years of previous employment in engineering, commissioning, programming, or transferrable skills to design.
  • Proficient in MS Office and general PC based applications,
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong client facing and customer support skills.
  • Experience in reading/understanding architecture, electrical, structural & AV systems drawings.
  • A teachable disposition and a willing attitude towards continuing education.
  • Flexibility to work outside the job description when the need arises.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Clean driving record and background check.
  • Analytical and problem-solving/troubleshoot.
  • Deductive reasoning skills.
  • PC and network knowledge.
  • Self-starter with keen attention to detail.
